Are you a writer or aspiring to be one? Are you a student who wants to advance in writing skills?

If you would like to grow as a writer, the main piece of advice any author will tell you is to just get writing. That’s easier said than done, however. Especially when you are having a hard time coming up with an idea in the first place.

To really grow as a writer, you need to practice, and even more so, you need to exercise. But I’m not talking about physical exercise here, — unless you would like to consider it finger and hand exercise for writing and typing — I’m talking about mental exercise. Particularly with that part of the brain that creates the story out of just an idea.

One way you can exercise that writer’s brain is by keeping up with a weekly writing prompt. You can do this on a computer, in a notebook, or add it to each weekly log in your bullet journal.

Writing prompts aren’t meant to be profound questions or ideas that will bog your mind. Rather, they are meant to create an environment in which you can let your thoughts flourish. You can write any length you’d like, but I would recommend keeping the length to about a half-a-page to a full-page, therefore exercising your mind, but not straining it.

I created a Vlog giving you 8 fun ways you can use a bullet journal to grow as a writer and weekly writing prompts was one of those awesome ways.

I’m sure you’ll easily be able to find a ton of writing prompts if you just search online, but here is my own list of 52 fun weekly writing prompts for the year.
